Eisenstein's Monster
"One of the most exciting debuts of 2016," --Richard Peabody, Editor Gargoyle
“Bach weaves a stunning debut out of disparate parts, melding settings and genres in this experimental literary novel. […] An incredible debut, as entertaining as it is outlandish, with at least one thing (and most likely many more) for everyone. “ -Kirkus Reviews (starred review)
Eisenstein's Monster is a novel about the portrayal of consciousness and identity, about what it means to live and die in a body--human or otherwise. Explored through montage and metonymy, the book is a Bildungsroman of language in a psychedelic, stitched-together novel made out of disparate chapters whose arcs and connections will continue to assemble themselves in the subconscious laboratory of the reader's mind long after the final page is turned. It is a novel about life, death, and the spaces tangential and between.
And it's about some lighter things too. Like dentistry. And snakes.
A.V. Bach is a writer and musician currently living in Chicago, IL. He holds a BA in English from Syracuse University and an MA in Fiction Writing from Johns Hopkins University. This is his first novel.
